Ocean Manicure

Post Grad summer has turned out to be quite relaxing for such a high stress time. I've really just been enjoying my last bits of freedom ahah going to the beach, hanging out with friends, going to happy hour. I'm also getting super pumped for my South America trip which I will be embarking on in 14 days. To match my bright mood I decided to go with a funkier color than I usually do on my nails.

For my july manicure I decided to go with a beautiful deep turquoise polish "Naughty Nautical" by Essie. Enjoy!

'Merica Nail Art

Happy 4th of July Everyone! What is everyone up to this Independence Day weekend?! I'm going to a friend's lake house outside of LA to celebrate the holiday. I'm usually not the biggest fan of 4th of July in LA. All of the events and parties have felt so scattered to me in the past so I wanted to do something a little more intimate.

For this holiday's nail art I decided to go a bit simple of course using the american flag as an inspiration. I used "Alpine Snow" by OPI for the base coat. Then for the simple stripes I used "Thinking Blue" by Sally Hansen and "Rory Ruby" by Sinful Colors. For the little stars I used a stamping plate by Konad because I find it really difficult to free hand stars on my nails. The color of the stars is "Lily Chrome" by Revlon. Enjoy! Let me know what y'all think!

Emoji Nail Art

Hey everybody, Hope you guys are having a wonderful summer! I have been enjoying my last bits of freedom before I start up graduate school in August so I've just been having fun in the sun, going out with friends around LA checking out the new hotspots and just having a grand ole time. For any of you LA locals I just went to this awesome new speak easy styled bar called No Vacancy in Hollywood that I highly recommend. My good friend from the East coast is also staying with me for two weeks so I'm super stolked about that as well.

For this week's nails I was inspired by one of my favorite neon polishes by FACE, which I used as a base. For the design I wanted to do something fun, funky and summery so I decided to use my favorite emoji faces! Hope you like them! Enjoy! Stay tuned for next week's nails which will be 4th of July themed.

Minnie's Favorite Bow

My 22nd birthday was June 19th and like every 22 year old going on 12 I decided to go to Disneyland to celebrate. My favorite character has always been Minnie Mouse so when OPI came out with a line in her honor I was so excited! I just found out today about a contest OPI is hosting to win the new collection!

I entered OPI's "Minnie Needs a Mani Contest" with this nail art. There will be a public voting starting Jun 28-30th. If you like my design please vote for me at https://apps.facebook.com/opicouture-de-minnie/contests/322685/voteable_entries.

Summer Fun Nails

Hey Y'all! Sorry it has been forever since I've updated my blog. I've been road tripping across the U.S since the end of May and just got back to L.A a couple days ago. We went through the North of the U.S hitting up some amazing spots. My favorite city was definitely Chicago it is so beautiful and fun and bustling. If it wasn't so cold during the winters I would totally love to live there. My favorite national parks were Yellowstone in Wyoming and Arches National Park in Utah. We saw three bears in Yellowstone! There were also some really beautiful natural wonders throughout the park like the hot springs.

After the long road trip I was in desperate need of a mani pedi so I decided to go with some fun summer colors. For my manicure I chose a fabulous Malibu Barbie pink to celebrate my coming home "I Mainly Eat Lobster" by OPI. For my toes I decided to go with a funkier color "Banana Bandana" by OPI. Enjoy!

Princess Nail Art

First off I want to start this post with a "IM DONE WITH COLLEGE!!!!" shout out. Four years finally over, now all I have to do is attend graduation next week. After graduation I will be doing a cross country road trip with my Boyfriend which I'm super excited about and I'm moving back to LA to start graduate school in the fall. Yipee!

This week's nails I wanted to do some free style nail art. I was inspired by the funky, gorgeous royal blue polish "Butter Please" by Essie to do a fun Basquita-esk design. Let me know what y'all think!

Lace Nail Art

This week I felt a little lazy about my nail art so I decided to go with some stick ons by Sally Hanson! Sticks ons are way to pricey in my opinion, but they are just so easy to do! I love not having to worry about ruining them after I put them in because they don't need to dry! I have only tried using Sally Hanson and Maybelline stick ons and Sally Hanson was much much better. What are your favorite stick on brands? Let me know!

Wedding Nail Art

This past weekend I did my mom's nails for my art exhibition. I just added a little accent to each of her ring fingers, but when I took the pictures with her diamond ring I immediately thought this would be such a great design for a bride or bridesmaid! Even for an engagement party.

For the base coat I used "Tickle Me France-y" by OPI. For the roses I used "Peachy" by Revlon and "Peas and Qs" by Nicole by OPI. For the details on the roses I used "Draw in Pink" and "Green Skecth" by Milani's Nail Art collection.

Sun Flower Nail Art

Finally spring is here on the East Coast! My Senior Thesis Art Exhibition is opening tomorrow and I'm super excited for it. I'm wearing a cute white summery dress so I decided to go with a bright and fun nail design for the occasion.

For the base coat I used a bright yellow orange polish by FACE. For the base coat on my index and middle finger I used "Tickle my France-y" by OPI. For the sunflower petals I used "Electric" by Revlon and for the middle of the flower I used a beautiful brown polish by Illamasqua. Finally for the details I used "Sassy Brassy" and "Glitzy Jam" by Milani. Enjoy!

Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend Nails

Lately I've been really into having the middle finger and index finger be the accent nails instead of the ring finger and thumb. My housemates just bought this beautiful dark purple polish "Tomorrow Never Dies" by OPI and I wanted to base my design off of it. I decided to have a sort of transitional tonal effect by using "What's With The Cattitude?" on my index nail and half of my middle finger nail. I added some 3D studs for a decorative effect in between the two colors. Finally, I wanted a simple design on the index finger and what better than a diamond--a girl's best friend ;). I also used a little bit of "Art of Silver" by Milani's Nail Art collection to the diamond to add a little sparkle. Enjoy! Let me know your thoughts! And stay tuned for next weeks nails, I'm thinking neon yellow.

Poppy Nail Art (For My Senior Project Advisor!)

My senior project exhibition is opening in a week! I'm in a good place with my paintings and since my advisor has been admiring my nail art for the past couple of months we decided to turn our meeting into a nail painting party hahah! She asked me to do a fun manicure for an NYC penthouse wedding she is going to this weekend. She is wearing a black dress so we decided to go with a bright colored floral design to add a more spring time feel to the outfit.

For the base coat I used "Alpine Snow" by OPI. For the flowers I used "Big Apple Red" by OPI, and "Juicy Glow" by Milani. Finally I used "Electric" by Revlon and Black by Milani's Nail Art Line.

Louboutin Nail Art

Christian Louboutin is by far one of my favorite high end shoe designers. I absolutely love shoes. I have way too many pairs! Its interesting for me because buying clothing can sometimes be a nightmare since I have a curvy body, but shoes are my favorite things to shop for because they always make me feel good about myself. I never find myself saying "oh these shoes make me look fat".

For this week's nail art I wanted to do a Louboutin inspired design. For the base coat I used "Black Tie" by Confetti and the red accent is "Big Apple Red" by OPI. I bought a bunch of studs off the site bornprettystore.com. They have great nail art accessories, super cheap and they do free shipping world wide! The only thing is that it took a really long time for my order to arrive in NY, about 2-3 weeks. Regardless, of the lengthy shipping time I highly recommend this website.

Pink Polka Dot Nail Art For A Friend

There is nothing more satisfying than staying in on a saturday night drinking wine with a dear friend and doing her nails at 3 am!

I decided to use a simple polka dot design using different variations of the color pink! For the base coat I used "Passion Fruit" by Revlon and for the polka dots I used "Nothing Else Metals", "Muchi, Muchi" by Essie and a beautiful strawberry color by FACE. Later this week I will be posting a Louboutin inspired nail art on myself and also my senior project advisor asked me to do her nails for a penthouse wedding in NYC! Stay tuned and let me know your thoughts!

Neon Roses Nail Art

Hey y'all, just to let everyone know I think I will only be doing weekly posts every thursday until my senior project is over. I'm really excited about this weeks nail art. I sat down having no idea what I was going to do, but I love what I came up with. I just have to say painting my nails just totally brightens up my day. I wasn't feeling so great this morning, but after doing my nails I feel like a new woman!

For this weeks nails I was inspired by FACE's "Top Ten for J Crew" neon pink nail lacquer. Flowers are starting to bloom around the hudson valley so I also wanted a little bit of spring influence for my nail design. The other base I used is the classic, "Tickle my France-y" by OPI. For the roses I used "I Pink I Can" by Sally Hanson, "ChicaGo Get a Manicure" by OPI, "Peas and Qs" by Nicole by OPI, and "Green Sketch" by Milani's Nail Art Collection. Let me know what you think of this design! I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Sometimes Simple is Best

Hey everybody, sorry for the long gap in between posts lately. My senior project is due in just a short 4 weeks and it's basically taking over my life. I'm a studio arts major and I'm putting up a show of 10 oil paintings depicting the struggles of being a contemporary woman. Hopefully I will have website up soon showing my body of work. I will post the link on this blog when I do.

As for my nails, I got back from LA a couple days ago and as you can imagine I'm feeling a little emo being back in the middle of the woods. I just wanted to paint my nails black to reflect my mood hahah and decided to go simple with my nail art by adding an elegant silver stripe near the top of each nail. For the base I used "Black Tie" by Confetti and for the stripe I used "Lily Chrome" by Revlon. Enjoy!

American Flag and Pegasus Airbrush Nail Art

In my last few days of spring break at home, I of course needed to hit up one of my favorite nail art spots in LA. The artist specializes in airbrush nail art. He is really sweet and so talented. He makes all of his own stencils and has hundreds of designs to choose from.

Today I chose to an American Flag design. I absolutely love the way the stripes serve as a type of french manicure. This would obviously be a fantastic design for the 4th of July. I wouldn't consider myself necessarily patriotic but I love the design of the American flag on its own. Its become super trendy in current fashion. I followed the trend by buying an awesome American Flag sweater from Brandy Melville and now these nails :)

My best friend Karima came with me as well and she chose to do pegasus on a nude background. Love this as well. It's so detailed! And of course super cute.
